Honoring the 40th anniversary of its publication, the Oconto County Historical Society issued a reprinting of George E. Hall’s "A History of Oconto," last winter. The limited edition hard cover version quickly sold out and due to its success, we have undertaken a second reprinting. This time we are offering a paperback version of the book in a generous size with the same larger print of the limited edition.
Filled with interesting facts and photos chronicling Oconto’s history from its early days as a stop on a missionary’s trail through its era as a booming lumbering town, and up to World War II, this book offers a unique glimpse into Oconto’s past. Its pages are filled with colorful characters and stories of the lineage of some of Oconto’s most prominent citizens.
Hall gathered facts, incidents and illustrations from old letters, Oconto city and county records, records of the first official county historian, article of interest from various books and newspapers and from stories and memorabilia shared by longtime residents themselves.
We are pleased to offer this wonderful book at the Beyer Home Museum, the Holt-Balcom Logging Camp and the Copper Culture State Park at a price of $25.00. Copies are also available at BayShore Books, LLC and Bay Impressions at a price of $30.00.
Additionally, you can order a copy at a cost of $30.00 by filling out the following form and mailing it to: The Oconto County Historical Society, P.O. Box 272, Oconto, Wisconsin 54153.
